What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a robot?
For many people, it is a machine that imitates a human-like the androids in Star Wars, Terminator, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. However much these robots capture our imagination, such robots still only inhabit Science Fiction.
Data Corporation said that global robotics spending in 2015 was $71 billion and is set to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17% with robotics and related services estimated to hit $135.4 billion by 2019. Robotics as a field is on the verge of exploding already creating life-like robots (luckily far from coming to life) every day. Robots are taking up jobs which were once held by humans and are now used in almost every industry; it won’t be long before every household and office have one. The important question is, if robots are the future of work, where do humans fit in?
