Online Workshop on Open Source Technologies | IOT | WeBind

Open Source

image "The Internet of Things (IoT) is a computing concept that describes a future where everyday physical objects will be connected to the Internet and be able to identify themselves to other devices. The IoT is significant because an object that can represent itself digitally becomes something greater than the object by itself. No longer does the object relate just to you, but is now connected to surrounding objects and database data. According to researchers, there were 9.1 billion IoT devices installed at the end of 2013. They expect that number to grow hit 28.1 billion in 2020, when the total IoT market could be worth more than $7 trillion. The open source community has been at the forefront of this new trend, creating software and hardware designs that enable nearly anyone to experiment with IoT devices and applications. Snappy, is a stripped down version of Ubuntu, designed to run securely on autonomous machines, devices, and other internet-connected digital things. Mr. Prakash Advani, technology evangelist and an expert on Ubuntu for IOT is going to educate on how students can create their own IOT products with Snappy."
