image A Micro Controller (sometimes abbreviated µC, uC or MCU) is a small computer on a single integrated circuit containing a processor core, memory, and programmable inputs/outputs peripherals. Program memory in the form of NOR flash or OTP ROM is also often included on chip, as well as a typically small amount of RAM Micro controllers are designed for embedded applications, in contrast to the microprocessor used in PC or other general purpose applications. Micro-controller market size in 2013 was valued at over USD 16.5 billion, and is expected to reach approximately USD 27 billion by 2020. The growth may be attributed to increasing number of IoT-based application that needs high processing speed and interconnectivity. A micro-controller (MCU) is an integrated circuit, embedded in several products that need automation. A typical MCU chip consists of semiconductor components including processors, cores, memories and programmable IO peripherals.
